Professional Development and Training
Richard Branson, co-founder of the international Virgin Group, said in 2014:
“Train people well enough so they can leave. Treat them well enough so they don’t want to”
It’s a quote that has stuck with Nils, our Managing Director, ever since he took on his first employee
We offer training and ongoing development to all of our employees, regardless of their position or existing skillset. We have a track record of supporting apprentices or work experience students into the world of IT support. Each employee, from day one of their employment, is entitled to:
- Minimum 2 hours professional development/training time every week
- Free to spend as much, or as little, of your own time studying outside working hours. Your training. Your choice
- First 2 attempts of each exam paid for
- Resources & training materials provided
- Decide themselves what to study
- Option to study from home
Available as part of an external Level 3 IT course, we offer work experience placements to provide exposure to real-world IT environments, helping students apply their classroom knowledge in practical settings.
These serve as a stepping stone towards a full apprenticeship or career in IT
In partnership with a training provider, we offer a comprehensive mentorship and support program for apprentices enrolled on a Level 3 or Level 4 IT apprenticeship. A minimum of 20%, equivalent to 1 day a week, is dedicated to training and skill development. This ensures a balanced mix of on-the-job and formal learning experience, with continuous guidance and support from experienced professionals
One of our former apprentices impressively completed his apprenticeship well ahead of the standard deadlines, while we currently have a further two apprentices progressing through our program.
But the journey doesn’t stop when they complete the course – they are taken on as a full time IT Technician, and continue to receive ongoing training to advance their careers.
For employees in technical positions, we offer a multitude of training and certifications paths, which are completed at a pace of your choosing with all resources paid for. Examples include:
- Microsoft & Azure
- CompTIA
- Cisco & Draytek
- Software specific, eg ESET & ConnectWise
It’s an ongoing journey, and enables employees to validate their skills, giving confidence to our clients that we are trained to tackle any issues we face
For employees in management positions, we partner with the Hill Coaching Company who specialise in providing coaching and mentorship. Identifying areas for improvement, navigating challenges and pitfalls, this trickles down to other employees to ensure all are supported and working to their best.
Whether it’s 1-2-1 sessions between the employee and mentor, or a larger group, we are committed to ensuring that every employee has an opportunity to develop a wider set of skills.
Confidentiality is also maintained – the contents of each session are not shared with the employer, allowing for an open discussion
